Scholarships

The Dalton Scholarship for International Internships

The Dalton Scholarship is designed to help support students who are completing international internships. The scholarship is offered annually and can be awarded to one or multiple students. The amount of the award is determined by the committee making the award decisions, and funds available in any given year.

Students can find the application on the PCIE MyQueens page. Students are encouraged to consider how the experience will benefit their education at Queens, their future goals with work or further education, and how the experience will personally enrich them. Essays will be the main factor in determining the awarding of the scholarship, but GPA, previous travel, and the internship information will be considered.

Once the application date has passed, a committee will review the applications and select recipients. The decisions of this committee are final. Applicants will be notified about the status of their application in December and those awarded the scholarship will be granted the funds through their student account via financial aid at the end of the spring semester, provided that all requirements for the PCIE and Vandiver Center for Career Development have been met.

After returning, students will be asked to prepare a short thank-you note for the donors explaining the adventure they had abroad, and how the scholarship helped them personally with this program.

The Jo Dewitt International Explorer Scholarship

The Jo Dewitt International Explorer Scholarship allows scholarships to be awarded annually to students participating in language immersion, summer programs in France of China, or semester- or year-long study abroad programs. This fund rewards those who are actively creating a unique international experience for themselves by extending their travels, undertaking service projects or by getting more closely in touch with the local culture.

Students who have been accepted to semester- or year-long study abroad programs or a language immersion program are invited to apply for this scholarship by submitting the application, which can be found on the PCIE MyQueens page. Students are asked to complete the application form and answer several questions related to their chosen experience. Essays will be the main factor in determining the awarding of the scholarship, but GPA, previous travel, and the location and selectivity of the program will be considered.

Once the application date has passed, a committee will review the applications and select recipients. The decisions of this committee are final. Applicants will be notified about the status of the application in December and those awarded the scholarship will be granted the funds through their student account via financial aid.

After returning, students will be asked to prepare a short thank-you note for the donor explaining the adventure they had abroad, and how the scholarship helped them personally with this program.

The Class of '58 Scholarship

This scholarship was established to honor the Class of 1958's 50th Reunion and in support of John Belk's generosity to Queens' International Program. Multiple scholarships are awarded annually to students participating in Short-Term Faculty-Led programs. The scholarship is intended to support the international experience of students who demonstrate academic merit and interest in international issues.

Students who have been accepted to Queens traditional faculty-led JBIPs are invited to apply for the scholarship by submitting the application, which can be found on the  PCIE MyQueens page.

Once the application date has passed, a committee will review the applications and select recipients. All decisions of this committee are final. Essays will be the main factor in determining the awarding of the scholarship, but GPA, previous travel, and the student's articulated interest in international issues will be considered. Students who are awarded the scholarship will be granted the funds through their student account via financial aid. The timing of the award will depend on the program.

After returning, students will be asked to prepare a short thank-you note for the donors explaining the adventure they had abroad, how the prep course prepared them to travel, and how the scholarship helped them personally with this program.
