**APPLICATIONS FOR THIS PROGRAM MUST BE COMPLETED BY OCTOBER 8 AT 11:59 PM TO BE CONSIDERED.** Claims about identity and national belonging have become an increasingly important feature of political debate and dynamics around the world in recent years. This 3 week summer school, from July 8-29, 2022, brings together experts from a range of disciplines and backgrounds to explore the nature and implications of such claims for contemporary politics. Through a combination of taught sessions and field trips, the program offers an exciting opportunity to discuss these issues from a Welsh, British and international perspective. The program is hosted by the Aberystwyth University Department of International Politics, the first of its kind anywhere in the world, with lively teaching input also from the Department of History and Welsh History and the Department of Geography and Earth Sciences. The program is credit-bearing. Students will receive credit to transfer to Queens if they successfully complete the course. The academic component will entail the completion of a 10 UK credit module (3 US credits) including a journal, presentation, and a written assignment. The program will include trips and excursions as well as time to get to know the seaside town of Aberystwyth, home to the National Library of Wales. This program will be suitable to any major, but might be of particular interest to students studying history, political science, international studies, and sciences.
