SAN SEBASTIAN
Located on the shore of the Cantabrian Sea, and at the foot of the Pyrenees, San Sebastian -a city of 170,00 people- with its beaches, woods, valleys and mountains, lies only 20 km from the French border. You will be pleasantly surprised by the beautiful beaches, architecture and wonderful scenery. You will appreciate the deep roots of its local traditions, customs and folklore. San Sebastian, the recreational, cultural and culinary queen of all the Basque coast is a vivacious and elegant city that curves around one of the most dramatic and perfect scallop-shaped bays in the world. It is a pristine neo-Victorian city of broad promenades, parks, beaches and handsome renovated facades that glimmer under the summer sun (never too hot). Many Spaniards consider San Sebastian Spain's most beautiful city. It is also one of the liveliest. When the sun sets, San Sebastian changes gear to charge headlong into a night of tapas and wine. Among the events to note are the San Fermines big Fiesta (mid July), the International Jazz festival (mid to late July), Semana Grande (mid August), and the International Film Festival (mid to late September). Average temperatures (Fahrenheit Maximum/Minimum): Spring: 66/43 , Summer: 75/59, Fall: 69/ 48, Winter: 55/39.
